Caution

• When attaching the tester lead to the ABS/TCS HU/CM harness connector, the SST (49 G066 001) must be used. (See ABS/TCS HU/CM INSPECTION.)

Note

• DTC C1117 (17) may be stored if the engine is stalled or the ignition key is turned to OFF while the vehicle is driving at 10 km/h {6.2 mph} or more.


DTC	C1117 (17)		Engine control system, engine speed signal line
DETECTION CONDITION		• Engine speed 0 rpm and vehicle speed 10 km/h {6.2 mph} continues for specified time.
POSSIBLE CAUSE		• Malfunction of engine control system • Malfunction of related wiring harness

Diagnostic procedure


STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN ABS /TCS HU/CM AND DLC-2 FOR CONTINUITY AND SHORTS • Turn ignition key to OFF. • Connect WDS or equivalent to DLC-2. • Turn ignition key to ON (engine OFF). • Perform DTC inspection. • Is error message displayed regarding communication between ABS/TCS HU/CM and WDS or equivalent?	Yes	If a communication error message is displayed even after inspecting according to procedures displayed on the WDS or equivalent, go to Step 4.
1		No	Go to next step.
2	CHECK FOR DTCs IN PCM • Is DTC for engine control system obtained? (See DTC TABLE [L3]) (See DTC TABLE [AJ] (VIN: JMZ LW19J7# 300001-, JM0 LW10J300 300001-301405, JM6 LW10J300 300001-, JM8 LW28J# 300001-301513)) (See DTC TABLE [AJ] (VIN: JM0 LW10J300 301406-, JMZ LW69J7# 307683-, JM8 LW28J# 301514-, JM8 LW28A# 301514- (Assumed)))	Yes	Follow inspection procedures for engine control system.
2		No	Go to next step.
3	INSPECT RPM SIGNAL IN ABS/TCS HU/CM • Inspect the following item using WDS or equivalent. - RPM (Engine speed) • Turn ignition key to ON (start engine) • Is engine speed 400-1500 rpm?	Yes	Go to Step 5.
3		No	Go to next step.
4	INSPECT WIRING HARNESS BETWEEN ABS/TCS HU/CM AND PCM FOR CONTINUITY • Turn ignition key to OFF. • Disconnect ABS/TCS HU/CM and PCM connectors. • Connect SST (adapter harness) to ABS/TCS HU/CM connector (harness side). • Measure continuity between terminal S of SST (adapter harness) and PCM connector (harness side). • Is there continuity?	Yes	Replace PCM then go to next step.
4		No	Repair or replace harness between ABS/TCS HU/CM and PCM then go to next step.
5	VERIFY CURRENT STATUS OF MALFUNCTION • Clear DTC from memory. (See Clearing DTCs Procedure) • Start engine and drive vehicle at 10 km/h {6.2 mph} or above. • Gradually slow down and stop vehicle. • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace ABS/TCS HU/CM, then go to next step.
5		No	Go to next step.
6	VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE • Is there any DTC present?	Yes	Go to applicable DTC inspection.
6		No	Troubleshooting completed.

MZR-CD (RF Turbo)


DTC	C1117 (17)		Engine control system, engine RPM information
DETECTION CONDITION		• Engine RPM information through CAN is out of specification or invalid value.
POSSIBLE CAUSE		• Malfunction of PCM

Diagnostic procedure


STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	CHECK FOR PCM FOR DTCs • Turn ignition key to OFF. • Connect WDS or equivalent to DLC-2 • Turn ignition key to ON (engine off). • Is DTC for engine control system obtained? (See DTC TABLE [MZR-CD (RF Turbo)])	Yes	Follow inspection procedures for engine control system.
1		No	Go to next step.
2	VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED • Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors. • Clear DTC from memory. (See Clearing DTCs Procedure) • Start engine. • Is same DTC present?	Yes	Replace ABS/TCS HU/CM, then go to next step.
2		No	Go to next step.
3	VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE • Is there any other DTC present?	Yes	Go to applicable DTC inspection.
3		No	Troubleshooting completed.
