CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR OPERATION [MZR-CD (RF Turbo)]

BME014018230T04

• When the pulsar rotates, the magnetic flux that passes the coil increases/decreases and alternating voltage is generated.
• The pulsar attached to the camshaft has five projections on its side. Therefore, the CMP sensor detects five pulses of alternating voltage per one pulsar rotation (720° CA).
• As a set of two pulses out of the five pulses have a short interval, the PCM determines that cylinder No.1 is at top dead center of the compression stroke when the CMP sensor detects those two pulses, and determines the position of other cylinders accordingly.
