DTC P0704 [L3]

BME010200700203

DTC P0704

Clutch switch circuit malfunction

DETECTION CONDITION

• The PCM monitors changes in input voltage from clutch pedal position switch. If the PCM does not detect PCM terminal 1R voltage changes while running vehicle with vehicle speed below 30 km/h {19mph} 10 times alternately, the PCM determines that the clutch pedal position switch circuit has malfunction.
Diagnostic support note
• This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
• MIL illuminates if PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
• PENDING CODE is available if PCM detects the above malfunction condition during first drive cycle.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
• DTC is stored in PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Clutch switch malfunction
• Poor connection of clutch pedal position switch connector or PCM connector
• Short to ground between clutch pedal position switch terminal C and PCM connector terminal 1R
• Open harness between clutch pedal position switch terminal C and PCM connector terminal 1R
• Open harness between ground and clutch pedal position switch terminal E
• PCM malfunction
