DTC P0352 [L3]

BME010200300W02

DTC P0352

Ignition coil No.2/No.3 control circuit malfunction

DETECTION CONDITION

• If the ignition coil No.2/No.3 signal is less than 0.86 V or more than 4.37 V when the igniter is energized. The PCM determines that the ignition coil No.2/No.3 control circuit has a malfunction.
Diagnostic support note
• This is a continuous monitor (CCM).
• The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
• The PENDING CODE is available if PCM detects the above malfunction condition.
• The FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
• The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

• Ignition coil malfunction
• Connector or terminal malfunction
• Short to ground between ignition coil terminal A and PCM terminal 1B
• Short to power between ignition coil terminal A and PCM terminal 1B
• Open circuit between ignition coil terminal A and PCM terminal 1B
• Open circuit between ignition coil terminal B and ignition switch
• PCM malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1
VERIFY FREEZE FRAME DATA HAS BEEN RECORDED
• Has FREEZE FRAME DATA been recorded?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Record the FREEZE FRAME DATA on the repair order, then go to the next step.
2
VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
• Verify related service repair information availability.
• Is any related repair information available?
Yes
Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.
• If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
3
INSPECT POOR CONNECTION OF IGNITION COIL CONNECTOR
• Turn the ignition switch off.
• Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
• Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged, pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair or replace terminal, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to next step.
4
INSPECT IGNITION COIL ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION
• Inspect the ignition coil.

Yes
Go to next step.
No
Replace ignition coil, then go to Step 10.
5
INSPECT CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO POWER
• Turn the ignition switch to the ON position (Engine off).
• Measure voltage between following terminal and body ground:
- Ignition coil terminal A (wiring harness-side)
• Is voltage B+?
Yes
Repair or replace wiring harness, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to next step.
6
INSPECT CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
• Turn the ignition switch off.
• Inspect continuity between Ignition coil terminal A (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Repair or replace wiring harness, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to next step.
7
INSPECT POOR CONNECTION OF PCM CONNECTOR
• Turn the ignition switch off.
• Disconnect the PCM connector.
• Inspect for poor connection (such as damaged, pulled-out pins, and corrosion).
• Is there any malfunction?
Yes
Repair terminal, then go to Step 10.
No
Go to next step.
8
INSPECT CONTROL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Inspect continuity between ignition coil terminal A (wiring harness-side) and PCM terminal 1B (wiring harness-side).
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to next step.
No
Repair or replace wiring harness, then go to Step 10.
9
INSPECT POWER CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION FOR OPEN CIRCUIT
• Inspect continuity between ignition coil terminal B (wiring harness-side) and ignition switch.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to next step.
No
Repair or replace wiring harness, then go to Step 10.
10
VERIFY TROUBLESHOOTING OF DTC P0352 COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Clear the DTC using WDS or equivalent.
• Start the engine.
• Is same DTC present?
Yes
Replace the PCM, then go to next step.
No
Go to next step.
11
VERIFY AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE
• Perform "AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE".
• Are any DTCs present?
Yes
Go to applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Troubleshooting completed.
