Pulse Generator
Function
-
• The pulse generator converts the rotation of the motor into a pulse, and sends a voltage pulse to the power window control module.
Structure
-
• The pulse generator consists of a pulse plate, which rotates with the shaft in the motor, and contact levers.
-
• The insulated and conduction parts are arranged alternately on the pulse plate.

Operation
-
• When the pulse plate rotates, the conducting parts and the insulated parts alternately contact the contact lever, and the switch circuit repeats on and off signals and sends voltage pulse.
-
• For each rotation (movement of the door glass: approximately 126 mm {4.96 in}) of the motor, 72 pulses are generated.
Limit Switch
Function
-
• The limit switch detects the non-return range of the automatic window return function, and sends this information to the power window control module.
Structure
-
• The limit switch consists of a ring gear, which rotates form the shaft (sun gear) in the motor through the planetary gear, and contact levers.
-
• An insulated part, which functions as a limit switch, is mounted to the ring gear.

Operation (Normal operation)
-
• When the door glass is lowered, the contact levers contact the ring gear's conducting part, and the switch circuit is on.
-
• When the motor rotates (door glass is raised), the sun gear installed to the motor axis, the planetary gear, and the ring gear also rotate.
-
• When the door glass enters the non-return range, the contact levers contact the insulated parts, and the switch circuit turns off. As a result, automatic window return function is cancelled.

Operation (Automatic reset operation)
-
• If the window glass run channel is worn or damaged, power window operating torque is increased. In such a case, the ring gear contacts the stopper before the door glass enters the fully closed position.
-
• After the ring gear contacts the stopper, the glass continues to be raised until the fully closed position because the planetary gears revolves clockwise around sun gear while rotating counterclockwise.
-
• As a result, the limit switch is reset to the normal position and the motor automatically memorizes the non-return range.

Operation (Manual reset operation)
-
• When only the power window motor is removed or automatic window return function is not operated properly, the initial position of the power window motor can be reset by performing the following procedure. (For details, refer to DRIVER-SIDE POWER WINDOW MOTOR RESETTING in the MPV Workshop Manual 1666-1*-99F.)
-
Note
-
• The initial position of a new power window motor has been preset. Begin from Step 3 when the power window motor is replaced.
1. Remove the power window motor from the frame.
2. Apply the battery positive voltage and operate the output axis of the motor counterclockwise 4 seconds or more (6 turns or more).
3. Position the glass installation hole of the carrier plate 170-200 {6.70-7.87 in} from the bottom of the frame.
4. Install the power window motor to the frame.
5. Close the power window by operating the power window switch.
