EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3]

Warning

• When the engine and exhaust system are hot, they can badly burn. Turn off the engine and wait until they are cool before removing the exhaust system.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Remove in the order indicated in the table.

3. Install in the reverse order of removal.

8	Exhaust manifold insulator (See Exhaust Manifold Removal Note)

HO2S Removal Note

1. Remove the HO2S using the SST before removing the exhaust manifold.

Front Pipe Removal Note

1. Remove the transverse member before removing the front pipe.

Exhaust Manifold Removal Note

1. Disconnect the generator, but do not remove it from the vehicle. After disconnection, fix the generator using a rope to prevent it from falling. (SeeGENERATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [L3].)

2. Remove the exhaust manifold.

(1) Remove the exhaust manifold insulator mounting bolts.

(2) Remove the exhaust manifold.

(3) Remove the exhaust manifold insulator.

Exhaust Manifold Installation Note

1. Tighten the exhaust manifold installation nuts in the order shown.
