Fiat 500L is a microwave of the Italian company Fiat, which is not developed on the basis of Fiat Panda, like Fiat 500, but on the Fiat Punto platform. L means big.
The car replaced the Fiat Idea and competes with the Citroën C3 Picasso and Ford B-Max. The design of the car is based on the Fiat 500, as a successor to the historic Fiat Nuova 500 Giardiniera.
500L (L means “Large”) is 594 mm longer, and not much wider and taller than the usual Fiat 500; and slightly larger than the Fiat Idea. The American platform of the GM Fiat Small platform was taken as a basis of a car platform.
The model entered the European market on October 20, 2012. Initially, the car was equipped with a well-known other models Fiat 0.9-liter two-cylinder gasoline engine Fiat Twin-Air with 85 and 105 hp, 1.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 95 hp. and a 1.3-liter JTD diesel engine with 85 hp. In January 2013, a 1.6-liter JTD diesel with 105 hp was added to the engine line-up. The official debut of the model took place at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6, 2012.
Production takes place at the Zastava plant in Kragujevac, Serbia, although assembly was originally planned at the Mirafiori plant; however, due to poor working relations, they decided to move the assembly.
