Fiat 500 – front-wheel drive three-door city car or car “small” class of the Italian automaker Fiat. It is the latest design replica of the 50-year-old model, which was once successful in the car market and became cult – Fiat 500. This is the same historic car retro replication as the models that appeared a little earlier on the market New Beetle (Volkswagen) and MINI (BMW).
Since 2009 on the basis of the basic model the two-door convertible with a soft roof Fiat 500 C is issued.
The model was first presented on July 4, 2007 at the Turin Motor Show. The car is manufactured in Tychy, Poland, along with the Fiat Panda and Ford Ka of the second generation, using the same platform.
On November 19, 2007, the Fiat 500 was selected as the 2008 European Car, ahead of the Mazda2 and Ford Mondeo.
The Fiat 500 is noticeably larger in all dimensions than its 1957 predecessor. Chronologically, in a number of models of Fiat small class is considered the direct successor of Fiat Seicento. The platform and many of the components and parts in the model “500” are taken in the model Fiat Panda. The layout and proportions of the cabin with relatively large windows, direct seating of the driver and a convenient view, traditionally refers this model in the car market to a number of “cars for women”.
The sports tuning company Abarth & C. S.p.A, a subsidiary of FIAT, has released its own modification of the Fiat 500 Abarth with 135 horsepower, which is nominally its own model, which instead of the Fiat logo has the Abarth logo on the hood.
In July 2015, an updated model was introduced.
By 2016, the 500 released a new Easy package, which is better equipped and more modern than the base Pop, while keeping the starting price low. The 500 is now equipped with the new UConnect 5.0 system with a 5-inch touch screen, Bluetooth and integrated voice commands.
